RETURN DELIVERY REPORT

As promised, a simple summary of the delivery Decision did from Isla Mujeres to Pensacola.

We left Isla Mujeres on Monday at 1400 hours. Went north then slight West, for current and breeze.  Breeze did not materialize, had no breeze at all from Monday 1800 onwards!!

At approx 25N started heading back east. and came into Pensacola from approx 87W

We did encounter more adverse current then expected. Without com and routing systems up, no telling where we went wrong, but my guess is further West would have been better current wise.

I did not dare because of the oil.

NO OIL WAS ENCOUNTERED ON OUR ROUTE. But the customs official in Pensacola informed me, that they expect the oil to now have reached the loop current!

This is all the information I have.

On the brighter side, we encountered more dolphins than we can count, a pod of humpback whales, and one 8-9 ft shark

 Some important things to note:
•    Pensacola YC will be hosting a US Sailing sanctioned Safety at Sea Seminar on February 27th. While not mandatory for this year, we expect to require a minimum number of crew to have completed this training for the 2012 race. The moderators, John Rousmaniere and John Bonds are first class, I would highly recommend you attend.

•    If you plan to sail Cruiser Non-spinnaker, you still have the option of using an autopilot or self-steering device however you will not be eligible to win the overall Spin/Non-Spin Division if you do so (you can still win Cruising non-Spin).
•    We are finalizing the dates for the Mexico Night Parties at SYC & PYC and will have those out shortly.
